Ideal for nature lovers, writers, painters, cyclist, bird watchers and stargazers. There is ample parking in our own drive and a secure place for bikes. There are two pubs serving good food which are 15 mins walk away through the fields (both downhill on the way back!) as well as a huge choice of places to eat in Rye and Winchelsea.

For those feeling stressed, achey or in need of a treat, Jeff offers both shiatsu and reflexology treatments. He has practised for 25 years and is fully accredited.

Ranters Rest is situated 3 miles from Rye in the Brede Valley. The house is surrounded by quintessential English countryside and has views in all directions. The 1066 footpath passes close by as does Sustrans 2 for cyclists. It is close to Rye harbour nature reserve and Pett levels for bird watchers and a pleasant drive to Battle, Hastings, Bodiam Castle and the gardens of Great Dixter and Sissinghurst, and many other places of interest.
